We've Got a Surprise for You!

Hey backers,
It’s been a month, and this time we have a great surprise for you!
Take a look on the following picture - these are the cube pieces of GoCube (which surround the center core). Now here’s a mystery: they are all independent pieces, and they are all free to move. Yet still, they all magically choose to stick together (and no, they are not glued).
Guess How?
Yep, you guessed it, those are magnets!
For those of you who are less familiar with magnetized cubes-
This is one of the most advanced features of nowadays professional speedcubes, commonly used by the world’s best cubers! The magnets gently “straight” the cube after each move, which highly enhances cube movements, gives a nice touch to the feel of the turn, and improves the overall playing experience!
In fact, we classified this advanced feature as one of our future goals, for a later version of GoCube. However, during the last several weeks, we realized we could include the magnets in this version of GoCube, without any drawbacks, design changes, or manufacturing delays!
So now you have it!
What about the cost?
Yes, it’s expensive (such cubes in the market are usually priced x2-x3 higher).
The magnets significantly increase the cube’s production cost (think about it - there are 48 magnets in each cube, someone needs to put them in place, and magnets don’t come cheap).
BUT! we decided that we will cover that for you guys! Our first backers and supporters! Simply because you deserve the highest value product, and we wish to make GoCube as premium and enjoyable as possible!
As for manufacturing -
We’re happy to share with you that the manufacturing process is going just great!
We’ve worked with the manufacturer on the production plans, and we can verify that the estimated shipping date will indeed be delayed by only 4-5 weeks, as stated in our previous update. We’re planned to receive first production samples in a few weeks (so stay tuned for some images & videos).

Hey backers, We have some awesome news!
Drum roll, please...
We’re super excited to update you guys that we have completed the DFM stage, and after a couple of months of exploration, of contact with MANY manufacturing sites, we’ve finally partnered with a great high quality factory, and...
The production process has officially begun!
To share our factory-scouting process with you: GoCube is a really complex product! Not only is GoCube a high quality speed-cube (with a super complex and accuracy-demanding mechanical structure on its own), it also includes embedded cutting edge electronics. Adding the fact that we would not compromise on quality, and wished to aim for a high-end design, product, materials and processes, made our factory’s “wish list” quite not trivial (as an understatement).
Well, we indeed discovered that finding a manufacturer who could meet all the above requirements was not an easy task (and did take us a bit longer than initially planned), BUT successfully accomplished! We are extremely happy to share with you that we have partnered with such a manufacturer, and are certain that these efforts shall help us reduce production risks, and deliver you the best quality product!
Last week, our CEO Udi flew to China in order to finalize last pre-production details with the factory, and to officially kick off the manufacturing. The factory has already started with another DFM cycle, to make sure our product passes various certifications and worldwide safety regulations. The very next stage is the design and production of the plastic injection molds (for mass production). In parallel we initiated the purchase of production materials.
To be fully transparent with you, unfortunately due to the above (delay in partnering with the factory, and unplanned second round of DFM) we do expect a small delay of 4-5 weeks, and we truly apologize for that! We are working with the factory on the detailed production plans and milestones, and shall obviously try to minimize the actual delay (we also hate it ☹ both as backers and as creators). We promise to be transparent and to share more in our next updates.

It’s been a month since our last update; we’ve had a lot of progress in lots of different subjects, and we wanted to share it all with you!
BACKERKIT
First thing’s first, 90% of all backers have answered the BackerKit survey - thank you! This has made our production planning a lot easier.

PRODUCTION
Now, on our end-
We are very happy to update you that we’ve finished our DFM process, and are currently in advanced contact with plastics and assembly factories in China.
As mentioned on our last update, we’ve also finished the design and testing of the electronics, and are making last layout optimizations (for power consumption, testing probes, etc.) before starting the mass-production stage.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
Our SW team also made some great progress in their court; both on the FW side (the software which runs inside GoCube), as well as on the mobile app and cloud services.
During the last month, we've minimized the overall communication delays in the system, and made significant optimizations of GoCube’s operation modes, resulting in an ultra-low battery consumption rate (more playing time with a single charge). Furthermore, we worked with members of the cubing community in order to define the most relevant and helpful statistics in our app. We added the detection and measurement of advanced algorithms, such as CFOP, and we’ve added new cool battle modes, accessible to cubers at all levels (and with both GoCube models!).
Feel free to send us your own ideas on how to improve the GoCube app. We may not be able to integrate all of your ideas, but we’ll be sure to keep them in mind.
Overall, we are happy to say that the project's progress as planned in all aspects :)

BackerKit Surveys are Coming!

It’s hard to believe that three weeks have passed since we wrapped up our Kickstarter campaign!
We are happy to update you guys that there has been some hefty progress with GoCube's design- we've started detailed discussions with electronic manufacturers regarding the almost-finished hardware design. The mechanical design has also progressed substantially, and is currently in an advanced DFM stage.
We're also expecting the campaign funds from Kickstarter, which will allow us to initiate our production steps (starting with the procurement of GoCube's materials, components, and tooling).
In the next few days, you’ll receive an email from us with a link to your survey from BackerKit (a pledge management service). It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can, since we need this information to fulfill your rewards. Please answer the questions about your pledge choices, provide shipping information, and take a look at our awesome, new add-ons.
The add-ons are all based on your requests during the campaign (thanks for all the great ideas!), and include a carrying pouch to protect your GoCube; an additional charging cable, so that you don’t run out of battery in the office; an awesome stand to show off your awesome GoCube; special lube, to maintain speed and longevity; and an exclusive, limited edition GoCube t-shirt.
