We can’t believe we’re past halfway to making GoCube a reality! We can’t thank you all enough for the tremendous success.
In light of the questions raised by our backers, we wanted to share our answers to let you know more about how GoCube works on the tech side of things, as well as some fun information on mini-games to look forward to playing:
A Look Behind the Cube Light and Design
In designing GoCube, we’ve kept the user in mind every step of the way. We wanted to create a design with the look and feel of a smart cube. Besides giving the cube a tech savvy look and adding to the beauty of the design, the light gives the user basic indications while playing.
You can get a better idea with a few examples:
- GoCube flashes after solving a puzzle (in the stopwatch and battle modes)
- GoCube lights up to confirm a connection with your phone or tablet via Bluetooth
- The cube light dims to indicate low battery
- The cube will flash when a user is invited to a battle
You could also try using the light in your own API-based projects. Users can customize lighting preferences to preserve battery life.
A Sneak Peek of GoCube's Mini-Games
Some of you have asked us for more examples of the mini-games, so we’ve decided to give you all a sneak peak into what we’ve been working on.
Cube Hero: Play an entertaining game of coordination and rhythm in Cube Hero. Inspired by Guitar Hero, this mini-game combines music and timing while players master the basics of GoCube. Your mission? Fire up the next tiles before it's too late. Check out the video demo HERE. Don’t miss the end, you’re up for a surprise!
Do you have some ideas for GoCube mini-games? Share your creative ideas with the world to make GoCube even better. Coders can develop these games based on the open API.

GoCube Meets World!

Four weeks of our campaign have flown by, and things couldn’t have been better! Thank you for all your support during these exciting times, we couldn’t have done this without you. Please continue spreading the word about GoCube!
Following the campaign’s great success, we’ve shifted gears regarding our manufacturing activities. We took GoCube on a field trip to China to meet with a few factories this week, and the outcome of these meetings look very promising. We’re happy to say that we are on schedule regarding GoCube’s production.
Some of you backers have asked to see new functional videos of GoCube (including finger tricks) and so we invited Amit Shefer, a friend from WCA Israel delegation, to have a go with a GoCube prototype. We can just imagine how it will look like with the final product (and final materials) ;)

A Word On the Cube’s API
Something we’ve always planned for, and that we hope to bring you in the future, is an open API. We love hearing all of your cool and innovative ideas about new uses for the Cube, and in case you have no idea what we’re talking about, let us clue you in:
GoCube is full of creative potential - what with its multiple sensors, lights and wireless connectivity. For those with the technical know-how, it's an ideal smart, generic device, using its API. So, if you know your way around software coding, you can create your own cool ideas for using GoCube - and then share them with the rest of the community and other GoCube fans!
Here are just a few of the awesome Cube-related ideas we’ve received so far:
- Using it as an unlocking device for smartphones (where the unlock code is entered via a sequence of moves)
- Using it as a bedside alarm - snoozing or stopping the alarm with one tap
- As a visual indicator of new messages - having the Cube’s lights come on for different messages, senders and more
- As a way to access your raw Cubing data, for custom data-analysis (for speedCubers)!
...while we’re currently focusing on other things, we’ll be sure to update you all when we get the API up and running! In the meantime, keep on sharing your exciting ideas with us!
